I’ve thought often about how I ended up in an abusive relationship, because before it happened, I wouldn’t have believed it possible. Looking back, though, I think the warning signs were there; I just didn’t know to look for them.
If I’d had the information then that I have now, I truly believe things would have turned out differently for me. So, when I decided to write about my experience, I knew that part of my goal would be to try to reach young women and help them recognize when they’re entering into a potentially abusive relationhip, before they fall in love and get married and have children and devote years of their lives to trying to fix the unfixable.
